Service Description
An End-of-Life Doula is a nonmedical professional that trained to provide holistic care (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) to an individual and their family throughout the various end-of-life stages. Doulas are known throughout the world by various names: End-of-Life Doula, End-of-Life Coach, Death Doula, Soul Midwife, Transition Guide, Death Midwife, Thanadoula, and Doulagiver. Having been trained in the three phases of end-of-life care, I can be a knowledgeable and caring resource for the patient and the family. We often wonder what our loved one is experiencing, and I can explain the stages and offer appropriate suggestions that they may or may not consider doing for the patient’s comfort. Examples of what I will do: ➢ Being a companion to your dying loved one ➢ Suggesting interventions for comfort ➢ Helping to facilitate unresolved issues ➢ Writing advanced directives ➢ End-of-life planning ➢ Planning the vigil ➢ Creating remembrances ➢ Finding peace and acceptance - Helping the patient find meaning in their life and what their contribution was to this life ➢ Supporting the patient and their loved ones through the entire end-of-life journey
